It was in 1992 that Prem Ganapathy started the South Indian food franchise outlet serving south-Indian cuisine alongside a street in Navi Mumbai, a developing suburb of the metropolis. His South Indian recipes were a great hit and soon his business started expanding. In 1992 his brothers joined him at passionate cook and by the end of 1997; he was selling about 10 –15 kinds of dosas in his menu.
Prem Sagar Dosa Plaza was evolved in 1998. It started off as a one man’s dream and has become the dream chain of south Indian food. Prem Sagar Dosa Plaza started off as one man’s dream. Mr. Ganpathy, the man behind the creation of India’s only most popular venture for south-Indian cuisine, launched a well-polished open restaurant.
Prem Ganapathy also tried his hand at investing in a by investing in a Chinese Restaurant , but there he incurred a loss. Since at 1999 Along with his Dosa outlet he tried his luck by investing in a Chinese Restaurant in which he incurred a loss. This gave him the idea of serving dosas the Chinese way. Up came American Chop suey dosa, Schezwan Dosa, Paneer chilly dosa, Spring roll dosa, etc. on the menu. By the year end, Dosa Plaza had fashioned 20-25 original varieties of dosas.
In 2000, he started serving his original dosas complimentary to his customers. This brought him a lot off positive response and his recipes were eagerly accepted by his customers. The tremendous response inspired him to style out many more original one-of-its-kind recipes. By2002, Dosa Plaza had 104 delicious varieties of dosas in its list.
In 2003 Prem Sagar Dosa Plaza opened its first branch as Dosa Plaza in Shopping Mal. The well furnished, well-polished Express model outlet had an international look and served healthy and nutritious dosas. Dosa Plaza opened franchise offers and interested franchisees poured in. In the same year, Ganapathy signed and opened his 1st franchise outlet at Thane, Wonder Mall in Mumbai.
Ganapathy launched a sister concern, D-Max Foods India Pvt. Ltd in 2004 with his first franchisee Bill Maker Pvt. Ltd. In 2006-07, Dosa Plaza established outlets in 9 states of India and was bolting into the market. Today there are 23 outlets all over India.
