Himalaya Drug Company evolved in an interesting way. The founder saw a restless elephant being fed with a root. Eating this root pacified the elephant and the plant was the Rauwolia sepentia. Fascinated with the effect of the plant, Manal had the plant tested and scientifically evaluated for its effects.
This was how the first Ayurvedic drug for hypertension, “Serpina” came into existence in the year 1934.
