Establishment of the Dr Lal Path Labs franchise

The Dr Lal Path Labs franchise was established by Dr (Major) S K Lal in 1949. He was a pioneer in the pathology arena and had also been trained in the Army and at the Cook County Hospital, Chicago, United States. Dr (Major) S K Lal used his knowledge and expertise to start an organisation that became the first, well recognised Pathology Laboratory in Delhi and north India. Dr Arvind Lal, the current Chairman and Managing Director of this laboratory franchise took over the management in 1977.

Dr Arvind Lal’s mission was to provide leading laboratory services at the most economical costs to patients across India .He initiated a modernisation programme, due to the rapid advancements in laboratory medicine across the globe. Regular equipment up gradation, introduction of new diagnostic measures, stringent quality assurance and automation were all the ideals followed under this management.

Due to these practices, the Dr Lal Path Labs franchise emerged as a leading pathology laboratory in India. This was corroborated by the Asiatic Research of San Francisco in California, which ranked the laboratory franchise as a leading laboratory in the five year reports of 1990 and 1995.
