The founder, Laxman Popley was a chemical engineer by profession and founded a company manufacturing electronic components for televisions. He then joined his father's precious jewellery business and today, after 25 years, made Popley & Sons Jewellers modern Gold and Diamond Conglomerate.
Looking at Laxman Popley, one gets the impression of a simple old man in an atmosphere of Gold & Diamonds. His father's business that is 73 years old today, has flourished under his modern vision. POPLEY not only distributes jewellery within the country, but also exports and retails through two spacious showrooms in Opera House and Bandra in Mumbai. It also has a landmark showroom in Dubai's famous Gold Souk.
Laxman Popley transformed the traditional company through vertical, backward and forward integration. Popley & Sons Jewellers has been the recipient of many awards. The World Gold Council has awarded Popley & Sons Jewellers the Gold Virtuosi in the year 2000. India's premier award for gold jewellery designs organised by the World Gold Council, Swarnanjali was also bagged by Popley & Sons Jewellers for 1999 as well as 1999. Popley & Sons Jewellers has also won the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Award or the GJEPC in 2000. 06.06.2007
